@Caiphex you surely mean the police forces insurance policy? And private insurance in the US covers your house being destroyed by the police?

@ShadoSpartan44 police officers all around the world do that every day without blowing up houses.

@leandervr thank you for your answer. Having your own insurance pay out and them getting it back from the police sounds like a workable solution... provided that premiums don't go up because I had to make a claim. And even if my insurance wouldn't go up... I probably would be rather upset if the police put me in a position where I had to file paperwork and do the work. My mind still boggles... By the way: thank you for your comment!

Unless it is the US military during a joint exercise - then they will not... or at least try and argue that they should not.
