Our 14 year old couldn't get on the list for his youth-groups trio to Auschwitz and was upset because he wanted to go to better understand. He knows it will be hard and that it will mean having to question the history of the town he is living in and his family but he also knows that it is the right thing to do.

In my protestant church in a small german town the sermon for the confirmation church service started with the pastor talking about love in all its forms and explicitly mentioned queer people - we are in a very conservative area.
