  1. Because her goal in the interview is different. She knows AOC will answer properly. With the GOP she knows she will not get anywhere and be called biased and unfair. So she is navigating around that. It is unbelievably sad that that is a strategy needed. All she can do is ask, allow the GOP to show how unhinged they are, push gently, and then let go.

  3. That's a bit strange that you see it that way. They were both respectful. The interviewer knew she could ask probing questions because she knew she would get proper answers. Her questions allowed AOC to out forward her arguments. ... but maybe it's me being used to not-US Media.

  6.  @4adinak  I do understand where you are coming from - but do feel that this line of questioning allowed AOC to answer not so much the person interviewing but people taking shots at her... as Obama did. It was a conversation with the journalist, AOC, and the people who had questioned AOC's reasoning. CNN gave her a platform and the means to present her rational - and boy, did she make use of that.

  13.  @futureglobal7258  sounds like working in a journalistic environment dominated by the 24/7 news cycle where everyone across the board of all forms of media was encouraged to do their job in a certain way because that is was sold... and confirmed with tradition of american journalism.
