@LadyWhinesalot Tja, keine Ahnung was das heißt. Aber ich bezweifle, daß es zur Diskussion beiträgt. To put it bluntly: I am someone who grew up with the knowledge that one town over people were killed because they were considered lebensunwert. My parents made damn sure that I knew exactly what that meant.

@dutchdna No. There might be footage around but Hitler in general did not like to be phtographed with people who might take attention away from him. That doesn't mean that Nazi-doctrine did not make clear distinctions between a person who is sitting in a wheelchair due to an accident and one that is in one due to an inherited condition. Hitler might have deemed Cawthorne acceptable while he is in a wheelchair but might have deemed him lebesnunwert if he thought of him as asozial due to the drinking, sexual assault, and driving without a license. Nazis had and have very specific ideas about the 'Volkskörper'. Hitler himself was ready to put person witha a club foot at the very front at his Bewegung: Goebbels. So he was frequently seen and filmed with a person that had a visible disability. Hitler made an exeption for Goebbels and he might have made one for Cawthorne. Who knows? But it is a fact that if he had followed his own writing Goebbels would have been sterilisised, he would not have beend married with Martha, he would have not been Propagandaminister if his disability had had been caused not by infection but by an inherited disease. Goebbels thought that being disabled due to an infection made him better than others and follwed Hilter's distinctions down to a T.

@LadyWhinesalot I am so sorry to hear that He didn't consider Goebbels lebensunwert although he had a club foot. Why? Because Goebbels was physically disabled due to an infection. That was a large part of Goebbels' identity as well - thinking himself better and different from others with a disability because it was acquired, not inherited.

@dutchdna I am not making excuses. I am explaining Nazi-doctrine to you. You are ignoring that Nazis had and have a very specific way of looking at humans and their body. And a very specific way of meassuring the worth of people. If you ignore that you ignore what made and makes the Nazis what they are: fascists that glory in a very distinct idea of physical perfection that they used as cause to kill and harm.
