  7.  @jonathanstein1783  there were Avengers at the battle. In fact this was their very first battle. They were originally supposed to be attached to torpedo squadron 8. And wound up flying from Midway. As I recall , only one returned and that was shot to hell.

  12.  @dennissvitak6453  most bomb fuses tend to be in the tail. And are timed delayed. Thus giving time to detonate below deck. Also giving the plane time to clear away from the blast.

  20. Those were dive bombers. They're not using a near-vertical dive attack however, they are Glide bombing. And used by many less skilled pilots.
