@unryumaru2095 there is a diminishing return to trying to go larger in size. Even land-based artillery doesn't do giant guns anymore. You still are talkin about human beings trying to physically move these shells.

@elcastorgrande both ships you mentioned Saw service in the Korean War. But, they are from the later Commencement Bay class. Rather than the Casablancas.

@johnshepherd9676 those were not Casablanca class ships. These ships that appeared in the film were later Commencement Bay class.

We don't have the planes or crews however. LHA's are available.

@Strongpoint_S your hypothetical is hypothetically Broad. And strangely considering the time, would likely involve nuclear warfare. So the reactivation of large numbers of ships would be a moot point.

@Spitfire6177 size of aircraft is a major factor. There are also the space limitations on the hangar deck being occupied by this equipment. The early Essex class ships soon discontinued the practice.

@venomgeekmedia9886 that would make zero sense.

@nerva- basic answer? This channel covers hundreds of years of ships from many nations. There's a lot of stuff on the waitlist.

@nerva- personally, I think there are some topics that have been waiting several years. Submarine as well as fast attack /torpedo boat fans would probably say wait in line. The Independence-class will get there day. But not before the various U-boats or God forbid the various British submarine types. And the E-boat has been waiting since day one.
