Meanwhile here we are in the year 2022. The USS Gerald R. Ford is taking longer than the entire Second World War to get deployed. 😔 Commison date was 2017.

It's called a five-minute guide for a reason.

@UNSCForwardontodawn we did. Most notably we sold ships to France and Spain.

Short, brutal and sad.

@markmaki4460 Real War? I beg your pardon but, we've spent a generation fighting a real war. The War on Terror is better labeled World War III. Lasted longer than both of the first two. Has just as many, if not more participants and locations. And most certainly cost more than the first two.

@UNSCForwardontodawn United States sold CVLs to France and Spain. The Essex class carriers require large Crews that most Nations don't have manpower for. And we did notably sell cruisers like USS Phoenix to Argentina. Which later became the General Belgrano of Falklands fame. Also most of NATO's Cold War threat was anti-submarine. Royal Navy carriers fit the bill.

Sometime ago you did a video on the fighters of the Essex class. Will we be getting the promised sequel on strike aircraft? 🤔

@splenditsanguinor we've answered this several times. There were YouTube copyright issues. And thus had to be withdrawn.

@scottgiles7546 one, it's a non-warship. Two, he has spoke about the sinking before.

@alanhughes6753 I don't know why this question keeps getting asked? The planes don't carry enough weapons to do damage to a lot of those facilities. And they were already building underground storage oil tanks. And the subs were going to be replaced with new models anyway.

@johnshepherd8687 Well.... Wikipedia says you're right. USS Badoeng Strait. CVE-116. Scraped in 1972 and used in the film.
2
@NoName-OG1 Not clear at all. War with China started in 1937. And we and the Europeans stayed on the sidelines.

Already covered. But due to copyright issues has been removed.

@johnlavery3433 goes beyond the catapults. Several other faults, notably the weapons elevators. As for replacement? Not going to happen. The rest of the class been authorized or has started construction.

@markmaki4460 this is one of these YouTube arguments that crops up from time to time. It's kind of pointless. You still earn a spot in Arlington...

The video was removed due to copyright infraction.

@rogersmith7396 off the top of my fuzzy head? They were Independence class cvls. Which ones? not sure...
1
@Marcus-mz7or it was your combat duty station. So only manned when at General Quarters status.
1
@johnshepherd8687 you sure they were CVE? Looked bigger.

@joshthomas-moore2656 the Asiatic fleet is a pretty forgotten bunch.

@NoName-OG1 I would say we're generally in agreement. United States was concerned about its economic interest in China. And of course the international citizens of Shanghai. The Marines and gunboats did not leave until almost the outbreak of War. Intelligence information both cryptologic and in person, together with the Diplomatic efforts had concluded that Japan was looking for a broader War. All of the talks, reinforcements and negotiations with Australia Britain and the Dutch. That war was a possibility in 1942. And all actions seem to be based on that timetable. No one it seems was thinking of a combined submarine and six carrier strike on Pearl Harbor. And that is much like your analogy about 9/11. A lot of dots. But the agencies collecting, the dots we're not connecting them.

@lonjohnson5161 that was a very fuzzy question. But after looking at it 3 times, are you asking if parts from a previous ship get recycled? And the short answer to that is yes. Recently on a another Channel. It was noted that the anchor from the USS Enterprise was salvaged. 8 is being used to replace a damaged one on one of our other carriers.

@johnshepherd8687 I've driven past many times myself. As of today? 🤔 The oldest ships still there are the mid 1950's built Forrest Sherman and Charles F. Adams. DD-931 & DDG-2.
