  1. Seriously? 🙀 This is 2019? Seen much of modern Japan? And pay for the defense of Japan?? US forces are there for our political policy reasons. The JSDF is the 3rd biggest force in Asia. That fact they have spent that time defending Tokyo from Godzilla and Mothra; is due to the Constitution and the sea change of Pacifism. We the USA are there because of location. We spent the Cold War fighting hot wars in Korea and Vietnam. And backed Taiwan over the Mainland. Ask the residents of Okinawa? They wish the Yanks would leave.

  9. What he means is, Leyte Gulf is series of 4 engagements. Cape Engano, Samar, San Bernardino straits and Suriago Strait. 4 fights with different units over several days make up what is the Battle of Leyte Gulf.

  12. You still have a logistics problem. Lots of bases from Wake Island to Burma to support. A lack oil reaching the home islands. A Million men in China to support. A nation to feed. Radar and better ASW do not balance the scale much.
