@Carbapenem1917 those are booms for torpedo nets.

@JasperFromMS Basically it is in drydock. The blocks support the keel and allow access to the bottom of the hull. The booms are to keep the ship stabilized. The men are likely painting.

@thijsvisser9414 Other than weapons used, carrier tactics have not changed much. Find the enemy. strike the enemy. Provide defense from enemy counter strike. Just a change in tools.

@s.31.l50 There is no good answer other than, closer the better. It varies number of topedoes, speed of target, speed of weapon. spread size, sea state, etc.

@joshuaroman5410 It is a technical dead end. Human power limits the range and endurance. The Spar torpedo limits you to targets at anchor.
