  17.  @Paladin1873  In fairness to FDR, the focus was on Germany and the U boat war in the Atlantic. While Japan was sending diplomats to talk Peace... The threat from Japan was seen as a Western Pacific region issue.

  38. Actually, she was sunk doing a ferry mission for the US Army. Moving a P-40 fighter Squadron to Java. The reason no carriers were at Pearl Harbor were due to similar Ferry missions to Wake Island and Midway. By this time, The Langley was a Seaplane tender.
