  4. ​ @thehuscarl4835  short answer to your question is , yes. Segregation was very much in Vogue. Until mid War, black Americans were not even accepted in the Marine Corps at all. And until mid War, Black and Filipino Sailors were restricted to duties as Mess Attendants and Cooks only. By 1944 USS Mason and USs PC-1264 were commissioned with all Black Enlisted members. And by 1945, the first 13 Black Officers were in service. Segregation continued in the military well into the Korean War. And after the 1947 desegregation order by President Truman.
