@Sei_gsicht Your building ships that will spend most of the War as target practice for the RAF. They chAve no support to form a task force. Few access routes to open sea. Eat resources in fuel and men better used in U boats.

@joshthomas-moore2656 Personal Experience? Not much, even 30 years ago. As A San Deigo sailor, there was a pistol qual that lasted a day. Rifles were non functional drilling pieces. There was no range at all. In the fleet? You might qual on the line guns if in the deck department. Corpsmen with the Marines would have more training. The Seabees would have lots of small arms training due to combat on land. Marine Detachments are are different animal entirely. They practice and are married to a weapon.
