  1.  @shatteredreality46  Midway Island has planes. It acted as a 4th carrier. Meanwhile Hornet lost most of their planes and did little.

  2.  @shatteredreality46  A better question is not 6 carriers; but why drag a invasion force along? A invasion never made sense. Nor was the place supportable by Japan. Those escorts and the Main body would have been better spent screening the carrier force.
