By the time they were released from reserve in the mid 50s; people were trying to move on from the war. Also ships as museum pieces are very big and pricey to maintain items. Notice the number of ship museums in trouble now.

  6. There's actually a surplus of ships to scrap. We pay the one firm in Texas to Break up ships with little to no profit. Not to mention all the environmental restrictions, clean up, labor issues. That's why commercial ship breaking is done overseas.
