This is a complicated situation. It seems to be based on what Putin has as goal. They have always been a sub based Navy. They have no foreign ports other than Syria. Cuba is off the radar. The Pacific is a afterthought. You don't need a carrier in the Baltic or Black Sea. My advice? No go...

@gustaveliasson5395 I would only quibble with the idea that submarines are only defensive. Considering their lack of sea access. Nor in the Cold War was there ever any real plan of offensive action by US carriers in Soviet home waters.
