Nope. I learned that in Econ 101. Increased labor cost will depress hirring and more automation. Those with more skills earn more. Perfect example? The firearms industry. 150 plus years it was concentrated in New England. Names like colt, Winchester, Marlin, etc. Remington in New York state. Today all these companies have either been bought or have moved operations out of the region. The prime driving factor? Cost of labor.

@apachegummybear1979 the darn restaurants are going out of business after a year of shutdown. No way they are going to be able to afford to pay somebody.

@eclectichuman8111 automation is a more likely scenario. Bank tellers have already been replaced by ATMs. Telephone operators have long been replaced by computers. In Japan, vending machines supply most things that you would buy. Rather than go to a Burger King. You would have sandwich machines like you used to have in many office break rooms. Rather than costly Office Space; companies are going to work at home. Shopping malls are losing tenants because people are buying online. No more need for store clerks working at the mall. Expect new car sales to drop. Folks no longer have a need to commute. Kids no longer desire to get a driver's license. And now AOC and her environmentalist friends want everybody to go to an electric car.

A Boogie don't be so sure. Robotics have come a long way. I've seen a machine built just to shuck oysters. A Job people used to have to do by hand with stubby little knives. Even farm labor over the last 200 years has become more automated.https://youtu.be/nKGGHdl3NyQ
