  1. dual-engine argument really does not hold up in practice. If you have enough battle damage to lose an engine; you're most likely going to be losing Hydraulics and fuel as well. I don't see any more twin engine survivability over single. You get hit with a sidewinder, the plane is going down.

  3. A proximity hit rather than contact. The Guy was lucky that day. Engine tech has come a long way. Nobody would built a 8 engine B-52 today as a example. There is parity between duals and single jets today.
