  1. You can't have commercial ships go into foreign ports with weapons. You can't drive into Mexico or Canada packing a Glock. You want to put a anti-missile system on a ship? Not to mention the cost, training, etc.

And I don't know anyone who wants to work for the guy after his last 4 years. So you have a lame duck Administration. Political gridlock on Capitol Hill. A cabinet and White House staff of people waiting to see who's going to get indicted or blackballed. like a Rudy Giuliani. Not to mention we've yet to even pass a budget.

The Gulf States don't particularly care for Iran and no one particularly cares about Palestinians. So worrying about Turkey is a non-issue. And why everyone seems to think Egypt has power projection capabilities is a mystery? I haven't looked at Jane's Defence lately? BUT the Egyptian Navy doesn't have much to bring to the table. And their Air Force is not going to do much more than we have.
