  3.  @Rabbitt-d6y  most of the reservists are like Aviators or medical personnel. Do you have NROTC people Merchant Marine folks. But you don't have a bunch of ships lying around in reserve ready for people to jump on really. We are talking less than 50,000 people.

  4. Ahh, no..... We have a need for quality. Not vast quantities of people. If anything, do you have a vast quantity of people trying to immigrate to the United States. Offer them citizenship for service.

  5. That is more radio show talking points than anything. 70% of Americans don't even qualify to meet the basic standards to get into the military. Either due to education, drugs, criminal background, or can not pass the physical.

  10. You're casting blame in the wrong directions. They can only work with the budget they are given. And when you continually asked them to do missions and deployments. The systems and Crews get overworked. The maintenance is backlogged. They don't have enough yards to do years and years of maintenance. Play do not have the funding to acquire more. Congress continues funding on continuing resolutions. Rather than long-term planning. If you want to throw rocks? Throw it there. And at the American voter that puts them in.

  14. First of all there's a backlog of ships to scrap. Years worth. There's only one scrap yard really. Down in Brownsville , Texas. We have other facilities backlog try and take care of nuclear vessels. Due to environmental regulations and other issues. We cannot send these ships overseas. Any scrap steel market is not as huge as you believe. Which is why they only pay about $1 per ship. That's right, we sell aircraft carriers for buck.
