What's Going on With Shipping?

Comments by "WALTERBROADDUS" (@WALTERBROADDUS) on "Baltimore Reopens Channel for Some Commercial Shipping | FBI Boards DALI" video.
@rp1645 Your asking tugs to do a job that they are not really supposed to be doing. They are not emergency brakes.
10
Because you can't treat a rescue operation as a crime scene.
3
@lincolnlincoln27 tugs are not used to stop ships. I really wish folks would stop with the Monday Morning Quarterbacking in here. I suppose you want a police escort every time a tractor-trailer goes down the road?
3
That's akin to trying and charge someone in a traffic accident with homicde because they didn't get a brake job.
2
You would be incorrect.
2
@wgowshipping Ohh, lord.... folks getting up on their soap boxes. Next we're going to start FBI investigations on anyone who has an accident on I-95. Let's hold them responsible because they didn't go to AutoZone.
2
Why would there be any more risk assessment than there has been for the last 40 years?
2
Because this is not high risk navigation or restricted water.
2
@jonmccormick8683 Based on some of these people's expectations; I expect to see full-on police escorts for every tractor trailer going down I-95.
2
How are you going to run on Shore power in the middle of the river?
2
Your scope of view is too narrow. Think about the cost to all of the Dock Workers? All the ships either in port or waiting to go in Port? The customers of all of the cargo? The tolls lost from the bridge traffic? The extended travel time for rerouted traffic? And so on, and so on, and so on....
2
@gfys756 in the realm of theoretical? Sure..... I'm sure that you could do the same thing to the people who owned that Condo building Florida that fell down.
1
@gfys756 But there was no criminal charges as I recall? And Maritime Law will be different with any civil cases.

Ships are only as big as the infrastructure they have to use. Same thing with airplanes. The runways, the terminals, jetways and taxiways are only so big. Ships are the same way. The channel is 50 feet deep. That's pretty much a standard in most places for deep water vessels. Bridge Heights are kind of another limiting factor. As is dry dock repair facilities. There's no point in making a ship bigger than a place that you can fix it in. And there's the physical limitations of the Panama and Suez Canal.

If you want to play conspiracy theory? Try figuring out who leaked the supreme court documents over a year ago?
1
Is this your third grade effort at humor?
1
That's not really true. People have some weird ideas of what tugboats actually do and how they work. Your trying to use them as some sort of fancy emergency brake or something? It doesn't work that way. And employing 3 and 4 tons for every single ship that has to go in and out of a harbor is ridiculous. And how far do you wish to escort them? All the way to the Bay Bridge?
1
@wgowshipping The way that last guy was talking, you would think they were water skiing or something?
1
Because they not doing anything unusual or dangerous.
1
@zachansen8293 so far nothing has been brought to light that would suggest that.
1
@gfys756 actually, there are far more accidents with bridges on I-95 then with ships. Twice in the last year in my area.
1
The owners of the containers cargo are not liable. No more than if this was a UPS truck that hit your car.
1
@regould221 they are not responsible however for lost wages, business damages, economic impact or repairing the bridge.
1
So you want everyone to wait to use the Payphone?
1
@gfys756 I'm sure they'd like to be able to do something other than wish Grandma back in New Delhi a happy birthday. Every school kid in America has a phone now. Maybe they need the place some bets on a cricket match or something? Maybe they'd like to watch the news from some place other than Baltimore?
1
@SpringIsBACK 🤔 I guess I'm not up on my internet slang? Does it stand for something?
1
@chrisperrien7055 Could be worse?🤔 Sunday was the anniversary of the Mutiny on the Bounty in 1789. I think they measured message home in years..... So, thank God for technology.

The ship requires extensive repair.
1
UHHHHHHH,Yeah.....
1
@lincolnlincoln27 people want them to be some sort of braking Force. And using tugs all the way to the sea is not practical.
1
The tin foil on your hat requires changing.
1
@zr1pja it is, when you have a functional ship full fuel on board.
1
Your not using a ship as a dolphin. Your not going to reuse piers. An entirely new bridge design is being made. And blowing a ship's horn at 1:00 in the morning does absolutely nothing. There are ships all over the place. No one on the bridge can even see the ship.
1
@Funkybassplayer hey, I'm still waiting to find out who killed JonBenet Ramsey....
1
Hopefully, they do? It's like being on Spring Break, and getting locked up in Mexico.
1
They are not interested in your only fans account. And yes they do have rights under the Constitution under the Miranda Rights.
1
Recognize who pumped the fuel? Just another one of an Endless Sea of people in hard hats and safety vests.👷♀️👷🏽♂️
