Since when does the Coast Guard have the ability to do submarine rescue?

I believe you mean Robert Ballard? And the ocean itself is destroying the wreck.

@ssherrierable it's not imploding.

If it's able to reach the bottom. It's not at Crush depth.

@bluenick4577 actually it is a real question. They're not entering the wreck or taking anything off. Corrosion is a natural process. And after century has done all the damage.

@scott miller it's already designed to go to the ocean bottom floor. So stop with the pressure thing.

If the vessel is designed to survey the wreck, then it's Crush depth exceeds that of the Titanic. The question is now oxygen supply and Power. Most of these things have some sort of tow cable. As well as a Communications cable. It's reasonable to believe they've lost contact because they've lost the cable.

@upserlivinthedream that makes zero sense. You can't visit the Titanic at the bottom. and have a crush depth higher than the ship you're going to visit on the bottom. Nor has anyone reported any sounds of an implosion.

I don't recall the Coast Guard having submarine rescue capability? The problem seems to be that they've lost whatever Towing and Communications cable. Typical submersibles are Tethered to a support ship. Lack of communications means they have lost the cable. And being 400 miles off the coast? It's going to take close to 13 hours even reach the site at 30 knots.
