  1. Apparently, he's been in South Korean custody for two months. And was at the airport for a flight to fort Bliss Texas to await court-martial and possible discharge. How he managed to not be escorted all the way? And why Army CID did not have him in cuffs? Remains a question. But apparently he's slipped from the airport. Joins a civilian tourist group and goes AWOL.

So before we start asking about how he got into civvies and walking into a tour group in the North Korea? I want the base commander called on the carpet for that first.

  7.  @chrislarimer974  well so far the current story seems to be; soldier gets released from South Korean prison. Had been convicted in civilian court for assault. Now it was the US Army's turn. He was supposed to be on a flight back to Fort Bliss Texas for a court-martial. Rather than face a potential prison sentence and dishonorable discharge. He escaped custody at the airport. Joins a civilian tour group of DMZ. And defects to North Korea.

  9. @@user-jc9ep6ew1o well common Sense would "assume" Army CID would have him in cuffs all the way to fort Bliss ,Texas? For some reason that didn't happen. He missed the flight, got away from the airport. Joined a tour group. And the rest is history.
