  3.  mike smith  Short term or long term? Short term, enforce the curfew laws. Replace the police Commissioner with someone who has support officers. Stop the plea bargaining. Protect witnesses so they will be willing to testify against crime. Fire the school Superintendent and board. The schools are a major part of the problem. Give cops a reason to stay..... Right now they feel like Gary Cooper in, "High Noon."
