Pattern of unconnected event. You are reaching.

Sounds like a stuck brake overheating.

@kelamo7067 Not everything is a plot by a James Bond villain.

I highly doubt the Secretary of transportation is responsible for checking brakes on a train. The likely answer here is that you had a brake lock up. Brakes overheated, start a fire.

Nope.

@daverohner271 there's been no major change in regulations in 50 years.
3
Deregulation has nothing to do with SEPTA.
2
There is no attack going on. The brakes overheated and caught fire.
2
@MWIII-fd5on tin foil conspiracy hat is a little too tight. There is no James Bond SPECTRE plan going on here. The brakes stuck and burnt up.
2
The trains are electric. 🚈
2
Not if you think about a brake locking up and the friction overheating.
2
This is underneath the train. Best guess is they overheated the brakes. That heat leads to a fire. It also explains the smell.
2
Brake system fail. STUCK brake leads to friction. Burning brake pads leads to the smell. Heat from burning brake, leads to.... 🔥
2
Not a train person, but sounds like a brake Locked up and caught fire.
2
It looks like they had a stuck brake. The brakes overheated. That is what everyone is smelling. Friction causes everything to catch fire.
2
Apparently, they are not obvious to brakes overheating. Brakes burning up should have been a clue.

You should see some car repair channels. They Are far worse than any SEPTA train.

I believe they have a replacement program in progress?
1
@wooderice64 Is that due to their funding issues?
