I guess the phone checking thing can work in some relationships, if you both agree and expect it and ha e healthy boundaries around it. Personally I wouldn't want to be with someone who constantly needs to check my phone. There are a million reasons beyond cheating why someone would want to keep their phone private, so I don't think anyone should feel entitled to access to their partner's phone.
