flavhub, we might be dealing with a useful idiot, as the Soviet propagandists called them. If it worked for the Soviets, it must work for the Russian Ministry of Disinformation, too.

fredo1070, I don't know about you, but we've dealt with Russians since times immemorial. Just like my ancestors, I harbour no illusions.
1
fredo1070, really. I see you're pedantically trying to teach me your history from the 19th century onwards. Our earliest clashes with the Russians are recorded in Scandinavian runes.
1
fredo1070, we, of all people, know whom to worry about, and it always is Russia.

Cesar, you might want to try something else than dreary old whataboutism. It stirs up memories of Soviet times, when look-who's-talking was the Kremlin's stock answer to international criticism.

So, what kind of mandate do you have from the British electorate? For better or worse, May & Co have a mandate to represent the people of Britain. I very much doubt you do.
1
Hughjarce153 & purpleanex, the two of you seem clueless about the workings of a representative democracy. You can disagree with the system or her policies, but Theresa May has a legal mandate to govern. You, on the other hand, enjoy no mandate in any shape or form from the British people to speak on their behalf.

Christina, Russia is merely a superpower wannabe. You can only be a superpower if you have the economic underpinning. Russia does not and it's doubtful it ever will. Moral values would be helpful, too.
1
christina s, there's always room for improvement, but things aren't nearly as dire in the so-called West as they are in Russia. For starters, Western governments aren't in the habit of assassinating troublesome citizens of theirs. As for nuclear weapons, Russia's arsenal is checked by Western ones and vice versa. What remains is conventional military power and economic power, where Russia is clearly outmatched.

Strange. If you were right, Parliament could bring May's government tumbling down with a simple vote of no confidence. One can only wonder why Corbyn hasn't made his move. Or, of course, you could be dead wrong.
