But Churchill did fuck over the Poles in Yalta -- especially those 200,000 Poles who'd been instrumental in securing Allied victories in North Africa and Italy -- by essentially adhering to the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact pertaining to Soviet demands on Polish territory. It's one thing to refrain from military action when the Soviets broke the Yalta Agreement, but it's quite another to willingly agree to what amounted to gross injustice in the first place. Sadly, it wasn't the only instance where Churchill proved himself duplicitous. He also agreed to not applying the Atlantic Charter to the Baltic states, paving the way for 50 years of Soviet occupation.

  6. +Max Sch Yeah, about that fictitious nature, fellow MPs were up in arms when Churchill defended his action in parliament, apparently thinking the betrayal not so fictitious. With the end of WW2 nearing, Britain was in a position to stand up for the Poles' and the Balts' rights, but deliberately chose not to, disregarding all the lofty principles in the Atlantic Charter, drafted by none other than Churchill and Roosevelt. In this respect Britain was a doormat that read "welcome" in Cyrillic script.
