  1. It's interesting that we hate rats but love squirrels, although they're cousins. I was the same, but when my ex-girlfriend rescued a lab rat, I struck up a friendship with the critter. At the time, I liked to chew on liquorice roots, and whenever I came by, 'Ratteke' would carefully check my pockets for them. We were so close that she offered me the animal when we split up, but since I was moving abroad, I couldn't. I heard afterwards that the neighbour's cat got 'Rottis'.
