You're basically advocating that the USA should be dissolved, and for good measure, Britain and Germany, too. You're talking about fair trade, right?

mike rayner Oh is it for democratic reasons you want to see the EU dissolved? As to the EU being an undemocratic dictatorship, that's simply incorrect. The European Commission is appointed by elected bodies and lawmaking is subject to scrutiny by directly elected representatives. All the hallmarks of a democracy are there. Of course, it could be more streamlined, but that would be at the expense of national governments and parliaments. My point was that for trade to be free and fair in a world without trade blocs, the trading partners would need to be roughly comparable in size. The USA, Germany and Britain could easily bully the smaller ones.

mike rayner It's not a matter of rich or poor, but rather population size and size of the economy. If they go unchecked, big economies tend to ride roughshod over smaller ones, even if the latter enjoy a higher standard of living, but lose out in population size. Interestingly, you seem to profess that Britain always deals fairly with its trade partners. History is littered with trade disputes involving Britain, and not always in a flattering capacity. Moreover, you don't seem to have a problem when it's UK vs. a smaller entity, but when the shoe is on the other foot, such as UK vs. EU, the situation is suddenly completely unbearable. No, you'll find that the smaller EU members need the union more now that Britain is going rogue.

It's only natural that far right parties like Le Pen's Front National try to seize on Brexit and Trump's surprise win in order to propel themselves into power. You worry about the eradication of an invasive species, grey squirrels. Maybe you should worry about the real Nazis co-opting your cause.
