@ricky_pigeon Uh, humid air and freezing temperatures don't go together. Physics. I'm getting the idea you've never travelled to colder climes. It's the wind that gives you an extra chill in the subarctic.

@ricky_pigeon It's a different type of cold. I know from my years in the Netherlands that you can easily brave humid cold, but sub-zero cold, from double digits onwards, makes you succumb to hypothermia if you don't dress for it. I did a traineeship at Rovaniemi airport, to where British Airways flew charter flights with the Concorde. The flight engineer declined our offer for winter clothes -- and ended up having bits and pieces from his toes chopped off. We didn't think it cold.

Sweden delivered Archer SPHs to Ukraine, too. France is providing similar Caesars, which are proving an export success.

It's a first for the Brits, not for the Ukrianians.

Thank you. The Swedes and the Finns have tested their masterpieces here, especially in the field of artillery. "Europe" is not at war with Russia (the most densely populated parts of which are in Europe), but it's preparing for one in response to Russia's military aggression. Hence these exercises.

@matteusvirtanen392 Moose are elk in Finland. The US naming is based on an English mistake. Their settlers in the New World mistook a wapiti for an elk and had to adopt an indigenous name for the real thing.

Give it time. The Brits are new to the Archer.

True dat, but all three struggle with combined arms. India is significantly increasing its arms imports from the West, its efforts to grow more self-sufficient notwithstanding. You may wonder why that is so.

Wide open? Finland is NATO country now, and therefore, fitted with NATO Article 5 tripwire. Putin didn't fancy invading Finland before -- he knows it's perfect ambush country -- so he definitly doesn't fancy it now.

@knowledge.3563 Don't give his troll factory manager any ideas!

@IgirisuGuy It transpires that Russian hypersonic weapons aren't all that hypersonic. The designers of the Patriot initially couldn't believe their luck when their missile intercepted the first Kinzhal. Then realisation set in that Russian hyperbole was a big factor.

If Russia want to use this route to invade, the Finns and the Swedes are ready to stop them. It will be up to NATO airpower to aminister the coup de grâce, so the Russians won't retreat and regroup, like they did in Ukraine.

I guess Russia has no satellites then.
1
@TrevorCrook-c1s There was no coup in 2014. Yanukovych disappeared -- tellingly, to Russia. Puppetmaster Putin yanked his strings too hard.
1
@haaxeu6501 Interestingly, the Finns strapped an engine onto a towed artillery piece, with which they can drive the howitzer out of trouble, even to a new firing position.

@barlow2976 Medium-term, too. India can write its coveted permanent seat in the UN's Security Council on its belly, as the saying here goes. We don't need spineless members in the UNSC.

@leonmenssen999 No SPH does that, sport. This is not War Thunder or whatever online game you play.
1
@leonmenssen999 Yeah, it will ruin the suspension of the Boxer in no time, meaning it's for emergency use only. I seriously doubt it's ever used in peace-time exercises like these.
