Finland didn't want your precious Leningrad. Those Leningraders who experienced the siege knew it full well, too. I've seen the street signs that indicated which side of a street was safe. That was the side that would've been under Finnish artillery fire, had Finland taken part in the siege. The fact of the matter is the USSR tried its best to subdue Finland, but came up short, time and again. The Finns turned out to be most uncooperative. Admittedly, Stalin had a bigger headache in Germany, but it begs the question why he had to seek out conflict where it could've been avoided. The Red Army suffered close to one and half million casualties because a dictator got greedy for Finnish land. There's your mistake. And you had to repeat it, didn't you, in Ukraine.
