  2.  @danielsu1645  But I have practical knowledge of tanks, too, and the Leopard 2A4 and 2A6 models in particular. I used to be attached to a tank regiment. In our Leo 2s, ammo is not routinely stored in the hull, but in the turret compartment alone. If hit, it will blow outward. No jack-in-the-box effect, in other words.

  3.  @danielsu1645  The Turks deployed their Leo 2s without infantry support, which is an absolute no-no. Also, they put them in exposed positions so that ISIS ATGM gunners could target them at leisure. The Abrams can also store extra ammunition inside the hull, too, be it behind a blast door. Tank design is full of compromises. How you deploy them is just as critical, as the Turkish example proves.
