  2. Your posturing would be more convincing if Trump hadn't just backed down on imposing tariffs on Chinese imports in exchange for little more than vague promises. The US has foolishly outsourced manufacturing to China to the extent that any trade war with China would result in you cutting your own flesh. US companies moving production elsewhere in a hurry would inevitably face disruptions in deliveries. Retailers hate vendors who can't deliver, so they'd increasingly switch to non-US vendors. Unless the competition screws up in turn, lost market share is hard to regain.
