@barrystubbs983 Have you been living under a rock? In the event of a no-deal Brexit, Scotland will force another referendum. This time, the disgruntled Scots will surely vote for independence. Northern Ireland can't accept a hard border with Ireland, so it will follow suit. Who knows, maybe Wales, too, will abandon ship. There's no honour in going down with a ship unless you're the captain.

The EU doesn't have to do anything to make the UK fall apart. The UK is already in auto-destruct mode.

@barrystubbs983 Remainers are in the majority in Scotland, so I'd say yes. The same applies to Northern Ireland, but if they vote to join the Republic of Ireland, they'll be back in that way. If Wales leaves the UK, it makes sense for them to join the EU as well.

She's Dutch. As a Dutchwoman, she doesn't get a penny of British taxpayers' money, and never has. Also, contributions to the EU budget aren't hiked up after (or should I say if) Brexit kicks in. Sure, the net recipients will have to tighten their belts, but since the Netherlands are a net contributor, there's no effect. Get your facts straight.

@jonathanhammerton9418 That's just wishful thinking on your part. You're not very observant either. Italy already had its flirt with far-right populism. Did you miss how Salvini's self-serving shenanigans saw his party ousted from government? The EU-27 lack unity on many issues, but Brexit isn't one of them. There hasn't been a hint of disagreement in how to deal with the UK. And this despite several attempts by the UK to cosy up to potential dissidents. Brexit has shown that the EU stands strong.

@Light up the dark You may want to be a bit more specific as to why you think the EU will be finished in two years. I'm curious, because the last European elections suggested nothing of the sort. Just listing names of countries isn't convincing.

@aquilatempestate9527 You must be getting desperate since you stoop to name-calling. The commission doesn't decide anything. It just takes one member to say "we're not paying more" and there's no contribution hike. You really don't know what you're on about, do you? Tell us, what are the funding stresses you're referring to? Since you uniquely understand this, pray tell.

@aquilatempestate9527 Oh, and the UK is the fourth-largest contributor to the EU budget.

@aquilatempestate9527 You're making it up. The agreement is that budget contributions of the EU-27 won't rise. This means that administrative costs need to be cut and that the Cohesion Fund -- which mainly helps Eastern European members recover from the ravages of Communism -- will experience a hit. Don't expect any goodwill from them in the upcoming trade negotiations. As to Rotterdam, sure, they'll be hit by if shipments to the UK decrease. The Dutch can console themselves with only suffering a cut finger, while you've slit your wrists.
