  1.  @asahearts1  Strange conclusion. It's Putin and his minions who keep threatening with nuclear war. They started a conventional one in Ukraine, too.

  2. The promise made to Gorbachev covered East Germany. The Germans have kept their word. Don't make stuff up.

  3.  @asahearts1  Don't be silly. Both Sweden and Finland have tweaked their defence expenditure upwards on account of Russia's aggression, not because of NATO. Expenditure isn't dropping soon either.

  4.  @asahearts1  No, you're not paying their share. NATO has a smallish common budget, but the bulk of NATO's forces are directly funded by the individual countries. Moreover, the US seems to pursue a lot extracurricular activities in a military sense, so it's not an altogether fair comparison, unless you compare yourselves to the likes of France, which also has colonial and post-colonial interests that require the occasional application of military force. I could start about healthcare costs, which your calculate in and we do not, but I think you get the picture.
