  1.  JoopZweetsok  Israel did sign off the Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons, and its Amended Protocol II Article 7(2) prohibits the use of booby traps. So did the Netherlands, by the way. Do you prefer a rule-based international order, or complete anarchy?

  3.  @spikertaker  A pager rigged with explosive charge fits the description of a booby trap perfectly. In WW2, the retreating Germans left radio headsets out with the radio switched on, prompting Allied soldiers to listen in and triggering an explosion. That was a known booby trap, and this is very similar. Also, booby traps are specifically meant to kill or maim enemy combatants. It would be a waste of resources to target non-combatants. You have to be a crazed terrorist to think otherwise. You may disagree with their decision, but Israel willingly chose to outlaw booby traps in warfare. They're breaking their own laws.
