Comments by "peabase" (@peabase) on "What can RAF learn from Russia's lack of air superiority in Ukraine?" video.
Of late, Russia has made heavy use of modified FABs, which glide to their target and thanks to their much-improved range, can be released from a safe distance. That said, Ukraine just downed three Su-34s, the workhorse for such attacks. Maybe Russia got overconfident and left off the mod kits.

@Nathann99 Since you asked, the Fall of Singapore. It's known as the largest British surrender in history.

All over Ukraine, basically. Russia achieved temporary air superiority over Avdiivka, but at a steep cost in aircraft. Had Ukraine anticipated Russia's intentions and brought forward more air defences, the cost would've been steeper still.

@glintongordon6811 They're not British ADIZ, are they?

@glintongordon6811 So you failed to make your point. Gotya.

@marioceva7163 I believe the Russians admitted one lost aircraft, but still haven't picked up the courage to credit the Ukrainian air defences with the kill. No surprises there.

Glide bombs are stand-off weapons. They're called such because the launch platform -- in this case an aircraft -- remains outside of the threat range. If you think that's all it takes to achieve air superiority, it can argued that HIMARS/GMLRS does same. The opening air-to-air engagements of this war are history. Now that Ukraine's defences are up and running, the Russian Air Force wisely stays out of Ukrainian air space, relying on stand-off weapons instead.
