  1. It's pegged, not owned by France, and if indeed it were a matter of ownership, it would be the Eurozone rather than France that "owns" the CFA franc. Or did you miss the memo about France adopting the euro in 1999? Likewise, West Africa could finally adopt the unpegged eco. Interestingly, France has lost market share since its Eurozone partners now trade with West Africa on the same terms. But I suppose you don't like trade and prefer poverty for the West Africans?
