  2. Israel doesn't intend to stay. Compare it to Ukraine's incursion of Kursk. Ukraine, unlike Russia, isn't out for Lebensraum.

  3.  @cgray8267  Hamas is a minority faction. A wayward one, too. And "their people" haven't been asked lately if they want to be "theirs". It is said that support for Hamas was falling and that it wanted to avoid becoming irrelevant, hence the Oct 7 attacks. Maybe they're going out with a bang instead, but it begs the question if something even more radical will replace them. Israel is complicit, as it always has been when creating internal strife among the Palestinians. At one time, Netanyahu was very enthusiastic about Hamas, because it undermined the peace process that Israel had going with the Palestinian Authority.
