  2. Macron hasn't changed his tune in that respect. He's not denying Israel's right to self-defence. It's the way that Israel goes about in doing so that draws the world's criticism, Macron's included.

I don't know, during my peacekeeping tour in Lebanon, whenever we had trouble with the locals, we warned the elders that if they didn't control their youngsters, the French would get involved, and no one wanted that. The Israelis preferred to give them wide berth, too. In other words, we shamelessly used the French as a bogeyman, to scare the combatants straight. Moreover, Napoléon is oftentimes credited with being the best military leader in history. He was undoubtedly a military genius, but the tools at his disposal were first-class, too. France also led the Allies to victory in WW1, including the Americans, who for reasons only known to themselves, need to perpetuate this myth of French defeatism/lack of military prowess. It's all the more perplexing since the French presented military victory on a silver platter to the Americans in their Revolutionary War. It bears reminding that their adversaries, the British Army and the Royal Navy, were both considered the best in the world.

  7. @@Xecutioner. To add to the mystique, the same invisible dude who gave the Jews their promised land is also invisible dude to the Palestinians, who lost their land in the process. We're either dealing with an invisible dude suffering from multiple personality disorder or careless recycling of invisible dudes.

  9. Unconditional? You should have a gander at France's voting record at the UN. France has pretty consistently backed draft resolutions and that condemn Israel's violence against the Palestinians and encroachment of Palestinian territory -- only for the US to veto the potentially binding UNSC ones. You don't concern yourself with facts, do you?
