  1. You're not wrong there. Communism gave rise in eastern Germany to what is aptly termed as a lost generation. The reason why they haven't left for Russia is that they know full well that matters would take a sharp turn for the worse if they did. Bitterness and 'Ostalgie' is all they have.

  2. Some Ossies would welcome them, I'm sure. They've never adapted to post-Communist life, or fending for themselves. They also somehow think today's Russia is like yesteryear's Soviet Union, or as East German propaganda presented it.

  4. We'll always have these misguided peaceniks, but perhaps a few more in Germany than elsewhere. They speak of peace in abstract, universal terms, but in practice, they have nothing to contribute.
