  4.  @DMJ-01  That's all good and well, but Brazil's GDP per capita remains low and that's what matters. Indeed, it's morally dubious to build a powerful army if you can't provide basic necessities to a large part of the population. Still, even with military spending kept at a reasonable level, it's hard to call such a country truly powerful. I do wish Lula manages to achieve the social equality that we take for granted. Even so, it's going to be a long and winding road. It's a distinct possibility that Bolsonaro will make a comeback, like Trump up north, and wipe out all ordem e progresso in a jiffy.
