  3. Not quite true. Botswana, Cape Verde, Ghana, Lesotho, Namibia and South Africa can call themselves democracies according to the Democracy Index, be it flawed ones. Then again the USA, which often considers itself the bee's knees in matters democratic, is judged a flawed democracy as well.
