It's looks like you're new to democracy and rule of law. Parliament makes the laws and your supposedly "left wing" judiciary sees to it that they're followed. As we'll see in this instance, parliament will quickly change the relevant law, and the judiciary will see to it that this amended law also gets followed. Did you sleep through maatschappijleer?

@obsidianjane4413 A Dutch court of appeals ordered a cease-and-desist while the export license is re-examined. Of course it's based on the law. Courts don't have any other recourse than the law. The USA routinely nixes export lisences for arms. This is more less of the same.

@kitcarpo4745 If you haven't noticed, the Tories are still in power, just like before Brexit. To their credit, they've changed prime ministers no less than four times.

@maigepresents5840 Several parts of the F-35 are actually made in the Netherlands, like parts of the wings, the landing gear and the auxiliary power unit. It's fitting, because the Netherlands made a considerable investment in the F-35 development program. I suppose you haven't caught wind of the troubles associated with Turkey being kicked out of the F-35 program? Alternatives needed to be found for the parts and services that Turkey was supposed to provide. It didn't come cheap.

@saiyedakhtar3931 The judge won't be sacked. There's going to be another appeal or ultimately we'll see changes to the relevant laws. If an appeal would lead to a judge being sacked, the courts would be out of judges in no time.

@saiyedakhtar3931 Nah, I read the verdict. It was a judgement call, but that's what judges do. He's got the ICJ ruling to fall back on, too. Van het één komt het ander. You're not a great believer in the rule of law, and separation of powers, right?

Holland is actually very good about the rule of law. But in this case, they'll change the law.

Little do you know. The F-35 can make do without an auxiliary power unit, but incomplete wings and a landing gear are showstoppers.
