Russia loses yet another opportunity for hybrid warfare and there's the little matter of Russian ineptitude as well. Russia's failing grid could've caused blackouts in the Baltic states, too. It's like they've cut off a gangrenous limb.

@madukp Who in particular do you mean by the unelected bureaucrats? For your info, all top leaders in the EU are democratically elected.

You may want to send them LNG if you're so loving.

You're not the sharpest tool in the shed, I'm afraid. Typically, countries strive to be energy-independent, but especially now with renewables such a wind and solar in the picture, at times output and consumption can be at odds so that interconnected grids benefit from one another's stabilising effect. One day, electricity flows one way, the next, the other way. Savvy?

Spoiler alert: the E in EU stands for European and the U for Union.

Nothing changes, sport. There's no new source, just the old, already non-Russian ones. The Baltic countries haven't bought Russian electricity since 2022. I can't believe the Kremlin has briefed you bots so poorly.

Did you misspel Acidic? Heartburn can be treated.

Them being in the EU they rely on themselves, too. And their northern and southern neighbours, respectively Finland and Poland, vice versa rely on the Baltic countries. Grid interconnections are a two-way street.

@branimirsalevic5092 Reading comp isn't your strong suit?

@jmc6687 A loong string of emojis makes a great counter-argument, doesn't it?

Non sequitur.

How come? If the Balts were paying Nordpool prices to the Scandinavians and keep paying the very same Nordpool prices going forward, where's the price hike?

@gudini2559 So Kaliningrad(?) has excess capacity. Maybe the Baltic countries and Poland are willing to take some off their hands when the Russian Federation falls apart, like the Soviet Union before it, and Kaliningrad becomes... what was it again, independent Amberland? Or not, because the EU is going carbon-free. Maybe the new power plants can be converted to burn hydrogen?

@romanromanchuk7718 Aw. You must be peed off because the Russians don't bother paying you, not even in potatoes.
1
@hevieso There are no new providers and no old ones are bowing out either. And unless you're Polish, Finnish or Swedish, you're not seeing any money of theirs.
1
@TwiceStruck You make it too easy. Ursula von der Leijen. The European Parliament elected her with 401 votes in favour, 284 against. A comfortable majority, in other words. Can I ask you a personal question? Are you a neophyte with respect to parliamentary democracies? Or democracies in general?
1
Uh, they weren't sourcing any electricity from Russia, not since 2022. Why don't you Krembots ever watch the video that you comment on?

@FOMOSapiens76 You're witnessing extreme coping, which tends to manifest itself as whataboutism.

@The_Auricle_Of_Specie I hope so, but what has that got to do with you?

@mikef4077 Try to get your head around the fact that the Baltics states, for their part, are the EU. Also, from now on they'll connect to the Polish grid, which interconnect with all the other grids in the EU. Your conspiracy-ridden mind may find it hard to accept this, but there's no Dr. Evil in Brussels who owns and controls all the power grids in the EU and is just biding his time to extort one million dollars... sorry, one hundred billion dollars from the Balts. It's individual members states that own and control their own power grids.
