  1. The bumbling Russians jammed GPS, as a result of which the transponder sent out flawed data. I suspect they saw a "drone" on active radar, representing the real location of the Azeri E190, but its transponder reading put it somewhere else. In other words, they confused themselves with tragic consequences.
