  2. +Oskar You're on about social liberalism. Liberalism without the adjective retains its original meaning in Europe, and very much so in France. Pretty much only Americans get it consistently wrong. Oh, but France has a centrist government. Of course, if you're far-right yourself, it's leftist -- but only to you.

  3. +Oskar At the risk of sounding callous, your personal opinion about the centrist credentials of Macron is of little interest to me. What matters to me is that the consensus in France is it that Macron's En Marche! fits in between Les Républicains and Parti Socialiste. It's their political spectrum after all. Apportioning blame and above-and-beyond opportunism appear to be tenets of populism. I don't see that with Macron.
