  2. That's because the both of them gravitate to the hard right. It doesn't mean the rest of Europe does, too. Also, I think you read too much into Italy's supposed marginalisation. Italy just doesn't move and shake Europe to the extent you think it does.

  4.  @SyrinxArcadianNymph  Again, the downward trend in Scholz's and Macron's political fortunes doesn't mean Meloni gains in significance. Trump routinely ignores or forgets his supposed allies. Hungary's Orban is a prime example. Trump forgot to send him an invite to his inauguration, or saw Orban for what he is. Meloni may be his favourite du jour, but it's bound to be a patchy and one-sided relationship. You clearly overestimate Trump's ability to affect European policy -- if anything, his shenanigans have an unifying effect on the EU and that's the exact opposite of what Trump prefers. Trump is no great policymaker; he's a rabble-rouser, who above all wants to matter and get noticed.
