@tom4115 It's nonna my business, but I believe the French offered the US victory on a silver platter in the American Revolutionary War, after the decisive Battle of the Chesapeake, which pitted the French navy against the Royal Navy. Also, the final episode, the Siege of Yorktown, wouldn't have ended well for you if the French hadn't landed reinforcements and prevented the British from doing same. Maybe I'm being too forward, but since you're dealing with an international audience here and everyone here knows about the frantic white flag-waving in Afghanistan on your part, it ill behoves you to criticise others for same.

@tom4115 Why are you spouting well-worn American clichés then? The French have a long and well-documented military history, with its ups and downs. Yours is much, much shorter, but sure enough, you've managed to fit in some downs as well. The French led the allies to victory in WW1. Why would the others willingly gather behind a bunch of white flag-wavers? If anything, the French commanders were too aggressive and their poilus too brave, since France bled itself white in WW1. France, like Belgium, had the misfortune of serving as one of the battlefields of Europe. Don't delude yourself that Australia only fought in WW1 to save France. Maybe the French should've sent a machine gun team to fight in the Emu War. It's a pity they didn't, because otherwise, you might have won.

@damienroberts934 I think he can explain best what he meant. There's no denying that WW2 was a humiliation for France. I can understand the resentment caused by de Gaulle's résistancialisme, but that still doesn't amount to betrayal. Self-delusion and arrogance perhaps, but those were French problems. There was a time when both Churchill and Hitler had themselves convinced that WW2 would be fought in Scandinavia, simply because fighting another war in France was considered too costly. A century earlier, present-day Belgium actually had found itself playing host to the Battle of Waterloo, which certainly wasn't about Belgium either.
