  1.  @Hustler1856  The FBI aren't investigating in order to indict Kavanaugh. After hearing their findings, the Senate will vote to confirm Kavanaugh. No laws are being broken here. BTW, it was Trump who ordered the FBI investigation. It can't come as a surprise to you that Kavanaugh's nomination is highly political. In politics, many a career has stalled when public sentiment turned against a candidate. Ted Kennedy springs to mind.

  2. This is about a confirmation hearing. It's not a legal proceeding. Kavanaugh can't be legally charged because of the statute of limitations. Still, public opinion matters. Rightly or wrongly, if the public considers Kavanaugh guilty of sexual assault, that will inevitable erode confidence in the justice system. Drunk frat boys may well think they're free to molest girls because a Supreme court judge did, too.
